The SILCA Protocol RCR is a race road tire designed volume-first. Rather than scaling a narrow tire up with a thicker, heavier casing, SILCA leans on air volume and modern lower pressures to do part of the protection work, so the casing can stay thin, supple and fast. It is built on a 120 TPI race casing with SILCA's Pulsar rubber-and-silica race compound and SealSkin tread protection. The range runs from 29mm, sized for modern 25mm internal hookless rims, up to 38mm, the largest road width allowed under UCI rules. CarbonBead BeadLock replaces Kevlar with carbon fiber beads that cannot stretch or creep over time, so the tire keeps a secure fit on hookless rims for its whole life. In SILCA's lab testing, the 38mm RCR rolled at 31.7 watts versus 40.5 watts for a Vittoria Corsa Pro Control 38mm, while weighing 70g less per tire.
